Give any advice about professors or courses (upper level) that will be offered in Spring 2011! (or ask questions about a course)
Any comments about Cheeger or Greanleaf?
I don't really know anything about Cheeger (I wish I did since I'm planning on taking Analysis II, which is taught by him, next semester).
I have never taken a course taught by Greenleaf, but I have spoken with people who have and they have all said to avoid taking any classes taught by him. They say that it is difficult to understand anything that he presents in class.
My recommendations:
-Discrete Mathematics with Professor Pegden: Pegden wasour sub when Dr. LaGatta was out. He is a great professor--he is funny and interesting. He was also very helpful during office hours and the class is very unique and simple).
-Ordinary Differential Equations: It's an interesting class and it uses a lot of calculus. So far, I like the class because it's more focused on computation and memorization and less focused on proofs.
Has anyone taken Intro to Math Modeling or Numerical Analysis?
I haven't taken Math Modeling but I've heard it's really interesting, and you just do a few projects throughout the semester.
